Just on the other side of I35 from the University of Texas at Austin, you’ll find charming French Place (and yes, some folks call French Place Cherrywood, to confuse you and frustrate you and make it super fun when you’re searching for homes). The funky-cousin to Hyde Park, French Place is very similar in style, vibe and being dappled with the same bungalows, craftsman and Queen Anne’s while growing up at a different pace and also being on the East Side. French Place was long known as the place where professors found bastion, as upperclassman would want to be closer to campus down in Hyde Park, and French Place still had the great homes, unique access to charming coffee houses and great restaurants as well as the East Side flare.
