Ok, so some people call French Place Cherrywood. This is just a confusing little fun fact about Austin. It is like one of those things like MoPac is Loop 1. 360 is the Capital of Texas Highway. You’re welcome. I’ll just put it on repeat: Just on the other side of I35 from the University of Texas at Austin, you’ll find charming French Place. The funky-cousin to Hyde Park, French Place is very similar in style, vibe and being dappled with the same bungalows, craftsman and Queen Anne’s while growing up at a different pace and also being on the East Side. French Place was long known as the place where professors found bastion, as upperclassman would want to be closer to campus down in Hyde Park, and French Place still had the great homes, unique access to charming coffee houses and great restaurants as well as the East Side flare.
