Sandy Bishop joins the Advon Real Estate group after more than 20 years as a financial professional, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She decided to turn things on their head and pursue real estate full time; and has been a licensed real estate agent since 2004. Her CPA licensure and CFO capabilities assure that she understands the financial side of the real estate process. Sandy dabbles in real estate both professionally as an agent and personally as an investor. She has lived and worked in the DMV for the past 18 years and knows Northern Virginia intimately.
The most recent associations on Sandy’s resume were the Institute of
Scrap Recycling and the National Recreation & Park Association. Both of these associations have a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community. Through her tenure with the association, she saw the importance of community and loves that Northern Virginia has such a strong park & rec focus. Good parks and recreation programs in a community lead to increases in property value.
She just finished renovating her own 1939 condo with all of the challenges such a renovation entails, and Sandy even did a large portion of the work herself. This allows her to help her clients find the home of their dreams whether it is a fixer upper, new construction, or something in between. Her goal is listening to what her clients want and ensuring they have the support in finding it.
In her free time, Sandy plays with her two standard poodles, Jasmine and Jewel. She loves to travel, go to outdoor concerts and just about anything that involves the great outdoors.
My name: Sandy Bishop
Alarm Clock: If I have to be up before 7 then it is my iPhone my body doesn't usually let me sleep beyond 7.
Perfect Day: Start the day with a round of golf and finish it by packing a picnic and my dogs in the car and going on a picnic at a park or a winery with friends. Of course on a cold day curling up on the couch in front of the fireplace with a good book is very appealing too.
First Job: I started off working for my dad in his car dealership, but my first job that didn't have a relative as a boss was lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. I am a fish and wanted to turn other kids into fish as well.
Favorite NoVa Neighborhood: I would say that I have two. Inside the beltway, Del Rey is charming and has a true neighborhood feel. Outside the beltway, Reston is the ultimate urban center in suburbia with so many things to do and so many amenities that just can't be beat.
Advon is: The first RE brokerage that I have found committed to the success of its agents through education and mentoring. Which of course benefits the customer because they have a knowledgable agent ready to assist them backed by a team.
What does Sandy love about Northern Virginia: We have access to so much in Northern Virginia, from outdoor concerts at Wolf Trap or the many summer concert series to gorgeous parks both national and regional. Wine country is a short drive away and there are so many wineries from which to choose. The educational and cultural opportunities are second to none. Now if we could just solve the traffic problems it would be perfect.
