Is it OK to Mix Finishes?
Once upon a time, when styling a home to pick finishes for the fixtures, such as the lighting, hardware and plumbing, and continuing into the finishes for the furnishings, interior designers would have shrieked and recoiled at the very thought of mixing finishes. Oil rubbed bronzed (ORB)lighting fixtures meant that you were going to have a whole house load of ORB throughout! Oh, yes…. And now, in 2017, from the sconces to the table land and the coffee table, interior designers and stagers are starting to bring in layers so much so that you may find a bit of polished nickel where you will find some oil rubbed bronze and bit of copper with a patina, and that is ok.
