When you think of getting started in a new endeavor, sometimes phrases like “taking the first step” and “dipping your toes in” are repeated over and over. For local dressmaker, Rebekah Murray of Leesburg, Virginia and the Virginia Dare Dress Company, starting her own business was an “awakening of courage and bravery.” This is such a beautiful sentiment for so many people who have ever wanted to just get up and begin something and maybe didn’t know where to start.
She wanted to take “femininity and imagination,” and something that wouldn’t have been able to be a part of her original craft of photography and “spark imagination in the every day.” Rebekah has worked in the wedding and event design industry for years and wanted so much to deliver a dress design that would allow for confidence and comfort in the everyday.
When her parents urged her to take her creative nature and nurture it in another direction, she ran with it, and the thoughtful, inspired and romantic dresses that are loveliness for the everyday were created. After running a successful Kickstarter campaign, Rebekah gained traction to truly begin her dream of starting Virginia Dare Dress Company.
