The 4th Annual Sustainable Leadership Awards Showcase the best and brightest builders in the Commonwealth and DC
For the last several years, I have been lucky enough to be a part of the EarthCraft Virginia green building program through my affiliation with Chris Conway, the lead technical adviser for Northern Virginia. This year, we headed down to the Sustainable Leadership Awards to watch some of the projects that I was ever so happy to be a part of win amazing awards for their hard work and dedication to the green building and construction science fields.
From Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to the mixed use and mixed income development projects which spin some of the custom builders on their heads to what keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Hawkins described as ” the implementation of context into affordable housing” and beyond, we watched builder, developer, architect and visionary alike take the podium with the same grin and graciousness.
This year’s Visionary Award winner, TK Somanath of Better Housing Coalition couldn’t have utilized a better quote “treat all living things as your family”- The Veda. I think that all of the Sustainable Leaders do exactly that and it shows in their amazing work. Congratulations to all of the nominees and team members on a job well done, particularly those whom I had the pleasure of getting to work with over the last several years (Colonial Village and Daffan Homes).
