Did you know that today is Earth Day? Are you doing anything to celebrate?
By celebrate, I mean, maybe taking a lovely stroll through your community, or getting your food at the farmer’s market today? Maybe you made a commitment to reduce your energy output for your general-daily living? All of these little things add up!
Really, they do! As an eco-broker realtor, I do my best to share with my clients how they can live a healthier, more energy efficient life and I try to do it in a way that is non-invasive. We can all do little things to do our part to respect our resources and our communities.
Today, I actually went out to the LEAP Re-energize Reston event for realtors where the executive Director, Cynthia Adams, and Outreach Director, Barbara Englehardt spoke about what it means to teach consumers about healthier and high-performance homes. It was a lovely turn out and a great way to spend an hour in Reston. I love the fact that Reston is committed to doing home energy check-ups on 1964 homes in the year 2014! That is because it is the 50th anniversary of Reston, an awesomely sustainable community.
Thursday, I’m headed to the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce’s Green Business Initiative to hear what they have slated on the agenda. Apparently, I get around NoVa! You have to be in the know to provide the best information to your clients who are interested in sustainability across the board in the communities we serve, right?!
This weekend, I’ll be at the Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment’s Green Living Expo. It is a great way to find out more going on in the local area in terms of sustainable living, healthier options and ways to give back and get out there! I sure hope you’ll stop by and say hello. I’ll be at the Eco-Op table… My environmentally focused networking groups table.
Have a beautiful earth week, and always!
