“It is a complete lifestyle shift.” says new EYA Centerpointe homeowner, Min as he quickly jots down a note for sales manager, Adam Centron. “My wife and I have cut our commute in half or more, even. We were driving from Fredericksburg into DC and it just didn’t make sense.” For Min and many others, the new neighborhood from EYA, Centerpointe in Fairfax, Virginia, makes sense.
Life within walking distance, EYA’s updated motto to their 16 year old company for their urban in-fill developments comes into play here. Min and his wife are two of many happy homeowners who have found this Fairfax VA development to have simplified their lives. Being quite literally at the center-point of the the radiating Fairfax area, EYA’s appropriately named Centerpointe neighborhood of luxury townhomes places its residents within walking distance to a plethora of necessities and extras from grocery stores to fine dining and entertainment. Hate to drive? You can walk down your front steps to the Metro ground transportation that will have you at the Vienna Metro in minutes- making your way, quite easily through Northern Virginia.
After speaking with plenty of green and sustainable builders and developers, I would have to honestly say that I’ve never had a builder bring up community and walkability as EYA did. Sales manager, Adam Cetron, emphasized to me during our walk-through of the fully furnished model that EYA is different- they are focused on the local community and the relationship that their EYA neighborhood home owners will have with their community and fellow neighbors. EYA hosts block parties to encourage new and prospective home owners to mix and mingle throughout the many pocket parks and pedestrian friendly streets of Centerpointe. The theme is community and locality. Building up relationships with the neighborhood brings a fabulous feeling to Centerpointe. Even though the community is quite involved, the overall feeling once you’re inside of your well-appointed town home is quiet, serene, privacy.
The Chicago-style exterior of Centerpointe allows the building to meld into the commercial area of Fairfax where it lies- across the way from Fairfax Town Center shopping and entertainment. What you see on the outside is not at all what you’d expect on the inside. Almost like Fairfax’s hidden gem, the four story units are offered in 3 floor-plans from 1,800 to 2,500 square feet, some units even with two car garages; what you get for your money is spacious and well thought out. The architectural elements are pulled from the outside in, like the flow of the exterior molding and how it is echoed in the crown molding. Traditional options have been updated with a contemporary flair: the exaggerated crown molding and the more open concept living-dining-kitchen in a great room style area makes these floor-plans very user friendly and functional. The placement of the “heart of the home,” truly at the heart of the home invites warmth and the concept of the kitchen-commons. Great details such as the in kitchen desk area remind you of why EYA had once again won the NVBIA monument award for excellence in design. Designer fixtures, recessed lighting and gleaming hardwoods or the “more green” bamboo option throughout the homes show the finer selections and thoughtfulness. The stately master suite enjoys a fantastically laid out and beautiful master bath with 3cm travertine counters and glass enclosed shower areas. Storage is aplenty in these homes; one of my favorite touches is the optional window in the large walk-in-closet allowing for optimal use of sunlight. Each bathroom, be it a powder or the master, has been designed with beautiful natural and neutral selections to suit almost any taste.
Pulling back around to the idea of creating a sense of community, the fourth floor can be optioned as the location for the master suite that could enjoy the roof-top terrace, or, it could be optioned as a multi-functional flex room which could be a fantastic place to relax and take advantage of that same roof-top terrace. EYA homeowners can choose to have the luxe indoor-outdoor Heat-glo fireplace which adds a very sophisticated element to the home. Either way, the generously sized private roof-top oasis doesn’t give the feeling of being in a townhome community once you are outside; it is so private and smartly designed that you can imagine relaxing with friends or just enjoying the sunshine from your own cat-bird seat.
Yes, these homes not only meet our criteria for sense of community, but they are also energy efficient. Two-zoned heating and cooling systems, generous R38 insulation, argon filled double-paned windows and a brick and Hardi-board no-fuss exterior allow these homes to breathe a sign of energy efficient relief. Homeowners will also, again, enjoy the light and bright interior space, hard surface flooring of their selection and neutrally colored paint. In the kitchen, GE Profile appliances in stainless steel, quartzite counters and generous cabinet space make this home efficient, functional and healthy.
EYA’s Centerpointe neighborhood in Fairfax, VA has seven more townhouses currently under construction with three still available for sales as of March 24th. “Life within walking distance means we give life back to you ,” Adam says while reminding me how close we are to life’s necessities and frills of Fairfax. Min even chimed in to tell me “it is so nice to know that “green” things about Centerpointe aren’t just lines… it is legit- this place gives us the proximity and location to our new green lifestyle.”
