Find out the best places to check out Fall leaves in the DC Metro Area or just soak up these delightful sunny, cool days.
Fall weather has kicked into high gear in Northern Virginia. Kiddos have settled back into their school routine, pools have closed up for the season, and leaves are most definitely starting to turn their lush greens into rustic browns. Maybe the high heat of this past Summer is to blame for the early fall leaves, or maybe it was all of this rain that we’ve been having, but maybe that means there will be a fantastic show of fall leave colors in the DC Metro area this year. Not only do we get the beautiful sweet cherry blossoms in the Spring time around Northern Virginia and DC, but we also get fiery -fall foliage!
You don’t have to head to Vermont to get a fabulous show of electric yellow, dashing red and deep chocolate leaves if you live or are visiting the surrounding DC communities. Here are a few roadways and parks you can do a day trip to see some beautiful fall leaves. Mark you calendars for the later part of September and early October for the best leaves:

Maryland even has the Autumn Glory Festival! They say that October and early November are the best fall leave viewing times in Maryland… but it can change from year to year, especially with the crazy weather we’ve been experiencing up here!
I know that it is generally a secret- if you find a place that has a wonderful (fill in the blank) you don’t want to share it with anyone! Like today, when I found the best most decadent hot chocolate; I paused before wanting to share that it was at Northside Social in Clarendon, because I didn’t want for EVERYONE to go there, and get my place in line… too late. They all know about the Trickling Springs milk, now. But really, if you have a place that you love, or have heard about, and you don’t mind sharing- leave a comment, and spread the joy!
