From Fall to Winter, we want our clients to have their home in tip top shape!
Here are a three great tips for keeping your home on its A-game and for keeping you from having to call the emergency maintenance folks over!
Shut those hose bibs!
Hose bibs are the exterior faucets that your garden hoses connect to. So many people forget to turn those water shut-offs - well, off! Then, the water in the pipes freezes in the winter, and then when it thaws, it will burst and leak. That is no fun, so, just go on ahead and turn those off.
Clear Underground Drains
Remember how we gave you tip about your gutters, well, keeping your drains on the ground cleared will keep you mighty happy, too! That drain at the bottom of your stair well is often connected to the downspout, and you want that to be able to keep taking water away from your home. If it is clogged, it can cause gutters to back up and cause you a big ole mess! Keep it clear, people!
Check Your Grading
We living in an area where water seeps. Along with keeping your drains and gutters clear, make sure your waterways and grading around the exterior of your home is going away from the structure. We probably chatted about this when we were buying your place, and if you're planning on selling, we chatted about it, too! Keep landscaping and drainage headed away from your home and help keep your home happy and dry. Nobody wants a soggy basement, am I right?
