I guess that has to do with the lottery, but that in part has to do with games like entering for a chance to win a luxury green home like that of the 2011 HGTV Green Home in Denver, Colorado! I know some of the most amazing green and sustainable builders in the Northern Virginia market place and this home in Denver sort of reminds me of some of the homes that they have built for us in the McLean and even in the DC Capital Hill area. That is beside the point, though because the countdown is on and in 2 days, some lucky person will be the proud owner of a lovely LEED Platinum home that is spells out smart luxury in Denver, Colorado! Here are some nifty highlights that could be yours if you register to win:
- It is slated to be a LEED for home Platinum home, meaning that the home underwent rigorous testing and documentation for achieving the h
ighest standard for the USGBC’s ranking for green building for homes. - The home is made with smart products such as the TED, or The Energy Detective which monitors the home’s energy consumption in real time and links to an iPad. This is super-cool because the home owner can see where the home is using the most energy and tweak their habits to ensure that they are using energy is the most sustainable way!
- Throughout the home, sustainably harvested products were used, such as the Staple stone, which was made from recycled materials right from the site.
- In the master bedroom, artfully designed wall pieces were created from pine wood which came from beetle killed forests. It is an interesting way of putting this wood to use, in a creative and beautiful way which makes the room seem homey and lived in and very well thought out.
