If you have been affected by BRAC, then you are probably looking for some relocation guidance for the Northern Virginia Market.
It is my understanding that this BRAC initiative is the largest and most complex military move in over 102 years. That is impressive. It is an impressive move that is going to cause many families to have to pick up and relocate to areas that are foreign to them, but have no fear! You have some amazing people on your side like your own military support system for assistance, but also through good solid real estate professionals such as myself who have chosen to put together guides and details which are sure to make your PCS move that much more simplified.
Now that you’ve found out that you are being relocated to Northern Virginia or the DC Metro area due to your BRAC realignment, you know that you’re coming to a community that is rich in culture, heritage and history. Something you should also know is that our area is a different breed when it comes to real estate. Northern Virginia real estate has been one of the few markets to survive in an economy which hasn’t been very kind to the rest of the United States; we have been actually quite lucky. With areas such as Arlington County, which top the list for job security and thanks to the Federal Government and contractors, we have seen more job growth than pretty much any where in the Nation.
We are seeing a lot of movement from Arlington, VA to Ft. Belvoir and there are plenty housing options which will have you close to post and in convenient locations that will make you feel right at home. We will also see many personnel being shuffled to new posts such as the Pentagon and even Ft. Myer and Ft. Meade – being rearranged within their current positions, thus the name The Base Realignment and Closure or BRAC name.
